ReefNet is an Internet solution provider based in Stornoway providing web solutions and e-commerce solutions.
ReefNet was recently tasked with producing a large social networking site for Gaelic speakers, to promote community and encourage people to engage with other Gaelic speakers.
As part of this project, ReefNet were looking for a partner with experience and expertise in building massively scalable applications, with an understanding of the latest concepts in the web and social technologies.
hedgehog lab work alongside ReefNet to support them in a major sprint to deliver collaboration functionality surrounding groups and discussions for members of the social network.
We used our expertise in writing scalable web applications, using the CakePHP framework, to assist in the building of this key functionality. We also collaborated with ReefNet on discussions involving the infrastructure and database to accommodate the needs of an online social network.
