G-Cloud is an initiative by the UK government, designed to simplify procurement for public sector bodies and departments using cloud computing. Established in 2012, G-Cloud had several calls for contractors to establish framework agreements. G-Cloud 7 is the latest version of the initiative and hedgehog lab has been selected to be one of the SaaS providers on this platform.
Services are classified into four categories:
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) – The provision of fundamental computing services, such as processing and storage for users to run arbitrary software.
Platform as a Service (PaaS) – The provision of platform services that enable a user to deploy user-built or acquired applications.
Software as a Service (SaaS) – The provision of applications as cloud services.
Specialist Cloud Services (SCS) - Typically consultancy in the cloud domain.
How we fit into the picture:
hedgehog lab applied to be part of the SaaS providers list for G-Cloud 7, and we are excited to announce that our application was approved. As of the 23rd November 2015, we are listed at GOV.UK, to provide our services to the public sector through this platform.
Now an approved public sector supplier, hedgehog lab intends to utilise our knowledge and expertise to support native mobile development, as well as web app development services.
With the UK government planning to shift 50% of its IT spending to cloud by the end of 2015, it’s never been a better time to invest in digital. Being part of the G-Cloud 7 platform enables us to be part of this, and ensure that we provide the best possible mobile and web application development services to the public sector.
We are extremely excited about this opportunity, and we look forward to utilising our experience of working with public sector projects like the "Police Media Uploader" and applying that knowledge towards building more innovative and secure mobile solutions for the public sector.
