Continuing our hot awards streak in the last few months we’ve been shortlisted for the The Chronicle and Journal’s Best Places to Work Awards which recognises the North East’s top employers.

The awards‚ which are in their second year‚ recognise the region’s best businesses and takes into account a range of factors including company culture‚ staff progression‚ work-life balance‚ employee engagement as well as perks and benefits.

Last year’s winners included overall winners Gateshead College alongside local law firm Muckle LLP‚ game developer Ubisoft Reflections and PR and creative agency O Communications who all took home gongs in their respective categories.

The nomination will see us compete for a place in the region’s list of top 50 employers and could see us taking home the Best Medium Company award at an awards ceremony held at the Biscuit Factory on Thursday 13 June.

Recognition for hedgehog lab comes after the business placed significant emphasis on internal culture‚ staff wellbeing and employee experience with the creation of our People and Experience team last year headed up by our Head of People‚ Zoe Wheeler.

The business recently announced that it would also be committing itself to the Time to Change Employer Pledge‚ an initiative that demonstrates the company’s commitment to driving change within the workplace around employee mental health and supporting staff members who may be struggling with their mental health.

Following confirmation of our nomination‚ Zoe commented: “We’re proud to be recognised as one of the North East’s top employers in light of all the hard work we’ve done over the last 12 months driving improvements across the business.“Our team work incredibly hard‚ in a high pressure‚ agile environment to deliver complex solutions for our customers. We know not everyone likes to work the same rigid way and know that the key to our ongoing success is working with our people.”From our trust-based working principles‚ introduction of career development pathways and the focus on physical and mental wellbeing underpinning everything we do‚ we’re always striving to make hedgehog lab a place that empowers people to do the best work of their lives.”This year’s focus is to ensure we’re taking the time to check ourselves and pause to celebrate and reflect on those successes along the way.”There’s still work to be done of course and we’re currently beavering away on a range of different projects to make hedgehog lab a great place to work‚ not just in the North East but also in our offices in Hyderabad and Boston too.”
